The Anime World by Missi Mest, age 14 (Missouri, USA)

Anime can be a great thing. It all depends on which series you watch or read. A good way to read a few anime series is buying a copy of a Shonen Jump magazine. You can usually find them at grocery stores in the magazine section. A few of the anime series you might have already heard of are Yu-Gi-Oh and Dragon Ball Z. Shonen Jump contains those two anime series and five more other series. The other five are Naruto, One Piece, Hikaru No Go, Shaman King and YuYu Hakusho.

Another way to read an anime series is going to a bookstore and looking in the anime section if the bookstore has one. (Some may not.) At the bookstores, you can buy the anime series in individual books called mangas. Some mangas you can read like a normal book but since Japan is different than the United States, some mangas you have to read backwards. It's really not that hard. Mangas are written in comic book style and come in a lot of different age ranges, so the parents don’t have to worry about their children reading something that is too old for them.

The most popular mangas company would have to be TokyoPop. They make many kinds of mangas. They have regular mangas for teens and older; they have cine-mangas which are your normal everyday TV shows for kids like SpongeBob and Power Rangers.
