Ben Foster
Meet 11-year old filmmaker, Ben Foster, of Bear, Delaware. Ben's film, KID PATROL, wais a semi-finalist in the 2005 Flying Popcorn! International Children's Film Festival.

So how old were you when you first started making films? I was nine.

What do you enjoy most about being a filmmaker? Going to a lot of events that kids don't normally go to, and creating stories for people to enjoy.

What kind of equipment do you use? I use a Canon GL1 and an Emac computer for editing (Imovie).

Are there any particular filmmakers you most admire? I like Spike Lee, Spielberg and Tim Green.

Can you explain where you got your ideas for KID PATROL and how you were able to wear so many hats (acting, directing, producing, etc.)? I got the idea from how the youth today are making wrong decisions in life. I thought I would create a film that would help them make better decisions.

What has been the most challenging or difficult decision you have had to make as a filmmaker? Putting a script together.

If you had an unlimited budget, what would be your "dream" film and which celebrities would you cast? My new one I'm working on now is called DREAMS DO COME TRUE. I would use Halle Berry, Denzell Washington and some local stars.

Speaking of Halle, you met her in person when you attended the NAACP Awards in Hollywood. What was that like? Good. She seemed like a nice person.

Your family seems very supportive of your filmmaking efforts. What's the best advice you were ever given by a family member? Don't give up, keep going on and put God first in all you do.

What advice would you give to a kid who wants to become a filmmaker? Keep working and get sponsors from family and friends.
